Patrick (Pat) has been working in Occupational Health & Safety training and development for 30+ years. Pat is a recognized Safety Specialist and a Recognized/Qualified Trainer by both the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU) and the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training & Skills Development (MLITSD).

Pat has held both Management and Worker roles with responsibilities including authoring policies and procedures, monitoring, and managing corporate compliance, hosting safety meetings, performing workplace inspections, accident investigation and reporting along with leading the Joint Health & Safety Committee.

Pat’s involvement in Operations Management has been focused on ensuring current and new operations/productivity efforts meet compliance requirements. Pat is versed in legislation: both Ontario Provincial and Canada Labour Code Federal requirements along with numerous CSA Standards.  

Pat’s expertise in Training & Development, has extended to training needs-analysis, design and delivery of training courses, training-needs forecasting and auditing training effectiveness. Pat holds 14 different Train-The-Trainer level certificates and has trained and mentored other trainers and designed / delivered programs based on Adult Learning Principles.  Additionally, Pat has experience in Soft-Skills Total Quality Concept / Total Quality Management (TQC/TQM) training design and delivery utilizing such theories found in the works of Dr. David Keirsey, Dr. Carl Jeung, and assessment tools found in systems such as Myers-Briggs, Personality Dimensions (True Colours) and the DiSC assessment system.  Pat has authored and delivered courses ranging in length from a half-day Hazardous Materials course to a 17-week Transportation Management program.  Pat delivers the Joint Health & Safety Committee and Working at Heights training programs governed by the Ontario MLITSD and is currently seeking designation as a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) under the Toastmasters International Organization.

 Since 2019, Pat is a certified ISO 45001:2018 Auditor with Exemplar Global. Pat’s audit experience includes Company-Specific internal audit processes, the former Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) WorkWell Audit, Legal Compliance Audits and safety-related GAP Audits. Currently, Pat is exploring the Certified Health & Safety Management System Auditor Program (CHSMSA) under the Auditing Association of Canada (AAC).

As of 2024, Pat is a Certified Fall Protection Equipment Inspector, with aspirations to expand this to other components of Fall Protection for example, Anchor Points.

Working in industry for 32+ years in a dual OH&S / T&D role, Pat has spent much of his time in Industrial & Transportation sectors.  Additional sectors of experience include Automotive, Surface Mining, Construction, Food Services, Retail/Customer Service, Pharmaceuticals, Hotel-Restaurant/Hospitality Management and Youth/Adult education. 

Pat has been an in-house OH&S / T&D Team Leader and is currently under contract with 7 prominent safety providers in Ontario as a Contractor / Consultant / Trainer / Course Designer and was a Teacher at an Ontario Private Career College.

Pat has successfully assisted, advised and provided consulting, auditing and training for hundreds of organizations in Occupational, Health & Safety.  He has a passionate, approachable, comfortable “animated” delivery style that thousands of participants have found easy to follow and helpful in understanding the course subject.

Pat attended the Tibbett & Britten College of Applied Learning.
